Three Truths

“I’ve been poor my whole life… my parents and their parents before them … it’s like a disease passing from generation to generation … becomes a sickness … that’s what it is.”  ~ From the movie, Hell or High Water.

This is a short task for you, but it could be an interesting one. In past posts I have talked about beliefs and values, things that are important to you. Now I would ask you to spend a few minutes thinking about what you consider to be three core truths. I’ll give you one example of mine.

You see people in prison. You see young children struggling in school. You see a lot of people dropping out of college in the first year. People wondering where their next meal is coming from. Children shamed in school cafeterias. And the common underlying theme is poverty. Poverty sucks. It’s at the root of a number of problems — and I believe it’s at the root of many of our social problems.

Write your three ‘truths’ in the spaces below:

Write your three truths above, what you want to share with the world.

Why is it important to identify your most important truths? You just might discover something new about yourself. Some people do it quickly, others struggle with this exercise. Some get mad. Some cry. I urge you to do it, take the time to identify and write down three truths you believe in.
